Systems Administrator and Support Technician Role Summary

We are looking for a bright person with a good technical background and qualifications in a subject relevant to this role with experience in 2 or more of our core systems as described in the full job description. Our essential requirements are for someone with excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; good problem-solving skills, supported by a logical, methodical and thorough approach to implementation; a keen eye for quality and continual process improvement; have a desire to learn and work with a wide variety of technologies, good time management and ability to juggle different tasks for different people.

Typical activities for the role include:

  1. Monitor backups
  2. Purchase and set up new computers
  3. Assist staff with support queries
  4. Investigate system issues
  5. Management of systems
  6. Periodic testing of backup and recovery processes
  7. Deployment and Migration of Websites

Responsibilities will also include performing upgrades to clients’ systems and providing help desk assistance to clients who have our products. The role itself sits within the Product Support Team.

Software Consultant

Oxford Computer Consultants (OCC) welcomes applications from bright software consultants with a 2:1 degree or above in a relevant subject and with experience in software development in a reasonable selection of the following technologies: C#, VB.NET, C++, XML, XSLT, SQL Server, MS Access and ASP-based web development.  Experience with databases is essential; .NET and advanced Web-based applications preferred; developing SharePoint and CRM applications desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential since successful candidates will be working directly with clients. Candidates must be interested in seeing through the complete life cycle of a project from specification and design to implementation.

Successful candidates will have a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant subject and be able to demonstrate an aptitude for designing and developing applications using Microsoft Windows or open source technologies.

The scope of the work you could be involved with:

  1. projects for clients developing bespoke software
  2. products for central or local government
  3. solutions for innovative SMEs or global companies
  4. part of a team devising specification requirements and implementation plans
